Authority

Day #16

I heard a great story at bible study.

A woman retold a story that during World War II, an American plane with POWs onboard got word in flight that the war was over and we had won.

The American soldiers pulled off the patches of rank on the POW soldiers’ uniforms.

They had no authority over them.

Victory.

This woman beautifully equated that story of war to what Jesus has done for us.

He’s already won the battle over evil.

It has no authority over us.

We may let it occupy our mind or worry too much over it but we need to remember,

evil has no rank of authority over us.

Jesus stripped those false patches of power right off of our enemy.

WE WIN.

"But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
1 Corinthians 15:57

The Message says it like this:

“It was sin that made death so frightening and law-code guilt that gave sin its leverage, its destructive power. But now in a single victorious stroke of Life, all three--sin, guilt, death--are gone, the gift of our Master, Jesus Christs. Thank God!”
