How Beth Moore Showed Me God Has My Back

You know, it is amazing how sometimes I seek an answer from God

a sign

a stirring of the Holy Spirit on what to do

and I just don't get it.

Then out of the blue

while sneaking on the computer before the girls walked down for breakfast this morning
(why did I say sneak?)

I read this post from Beth Moore's blog:

Beth Moore.
If you haven't
done one of her bible studies,
you really are missing out.
Won. Der. Ful.

It all came together for me like a snap in my brain

no seriously, there was a NOISE inside my head.

God has my back.

It is so simple but such water for a particularly thirsty area of my soul.

Beth Moore showed me this.

Literally.

That is actually Beth Moore above holding a sign up on her back.

It says:

How's God showing you
He's got yours

That's when the noise when off in my brain.

And I knew.

God has my back.

I received this in the mail yesterday:

Handmade. Don't you just love a
handmade card?
It was from a woman representing the Moms In Prayer state group.

She said she was praying for me.
I lead a local group for the elementary and middle schools.

She knows my name, which means she prayed for me
by name. Isn't that fabulous?
I have lead this prayer group for the elementary school for 5 years and the middle school for just over a year.

We have gone from a solid 10 moms to no one.

Yep, for the past 5 weeks NO ONE has showed up.

Wait, that's not true.

My dear friend Carisa showed up this week even though she has neither an elementary or middle school child saying,

"No one puts Baby in a corner!"

So. Love. That girl.
(It was a sweet time in prayer too.)

I know people are busy.

I know moms are going back to work.

I know that this isn't personal.
(Even though my lying feelings try to make it so.)

I have talked with moms trying to spread the word on dates and times

in case someone just didn't know that there was a prayer group out there.

I've prayed.

I've despaired.

I've let my mind accept that this just might be
the death of this group.

But then Beth Moore showed me God has my back.

Of course he does.

Just to top things off,

in case I didn't get the actual sign on Beth Moore's back
as God's sign he has mine,

the Moms In Prayer daily email prayers I got today was based in Isaiah 65:24:

"Before they call I will answer;
while they are still speaking I will hear."

And just like that, God has my back.

I can't wait to see what He has planned for this Moms In Prayer group!

This also makes me think of one of my new favorite songs by Chris Tomlin - "Whom Shall I Fear" - where the lyrics say, "I know Who goes before me, I know Who stands behind, the God of angel armies is always by my side" Yep, He's got our backs, alright!

  3. I loved this! Yes, He has our back! Sometimes our minds tend to think that numbers are important in ministry.

But what is important is the MINISTRY, not the numbers. And you are being faithful to the ministry God has called you to, my friend.

Someday, He may call you away from it and onto something else. But for now, you are there to serve and it is hard to serve alone. But, as you just said today, you are not alone. God's got your back! :)

  4. Don't you just love when you get a little whisper from God like this one? And you have it all written down so you can refer back to it when you get discouraged. Keep going with your prayer group! I bet people are watching and you are glorifying God with your persistence. New follower!

  6. Just when we desperately need a sign, there it is - and sometimes literally! God is so good. I love that you have not given up praying. God does indeed have our backs :)
