The Beetle and the Bird

Ellie had to have a plantar’s wart on the ball of her foot removed this week.

It was huge and starting to really bother her.

If it’s not one lump,
it’s another for her .
Poor thing.

Monte made the appointment up by his office so he could take her before work.

We met so I could get Ellie back to school.

Let me start by saying that Monte NEVER asks the quantity or variety of questions that I would ask.

In any situation.

So when he mentioned that in the follow-up appointment the doctor may or may not put BEETLE JUICE on the wart to kill what is left of it,

Say what?

I had ALL the questions Monte didn’t bother to ask.

And possibly a few more.

Like, what is the “juice" of a beetle?

Its sweat?

Its spit?

Its milk?

How do you milk a beetle?

Or capture its sweat or spit?

He did know that the beetle came from South America and that the “juice” can be made synthetically now.

I’m sure those stinkers are hard to catch.

Not that I’d know,
BECAUSE MONTE DIDN’T ASK.

So many scenarios have played out in my head of the VERY FIRST guy who figured out that this particular beetle juice could kill a wart. Dead.

I mean, did he put it somewhere else first, on healthy skin and decide,

“Well, that doesn’t feel a bit good!
But let me try it here on this weird bump!
Well, look at that…it’s healed!

After all my questions and possible discovery scenarios,

I became just flat-out amazed.

Think about it:

we have a God who loves us SO MUCH that He created a beetle in South America that has healing juices.

Not only that,

but He put just the right guy
in front of just the right beetle
to discover it.

We are so loved and so taken care of
by our great Creator.

This morning, McDaniel hollered out that there was a bird flying around our new addition.

We have windows and doors installed now, but it must’ve made it in with a worker the day before or found a hole somewhere.

The insulation was installed last week so it’s finally warm in there and I bet the bird enjoyed it’s overnight accommodations

until it couldn’t figure out how to get out.

Monte, armed with a broom,

went into the addition to swat the bird to the open door and into freedom.

He got dive bombed a few times.

I wish I could’ve snapped a photo of that.
Monte is fast.

The girls screamed through the French doors,

“Don’t hurt him! Set him free!"

And he did.

It made me think…

We were all made for a purpose

and with a purpose,

like the beetle

and the flying bird.

God has set it up that we are at our best when we are working within that purpose.

But sometimes we trade that purpose in for a warm place to stay

and it becomes a trap.

We can’t figure out how to get out.

We might look for people to help us out.

Some might even stand with us in that room with a broom in their hands with people watching,

“Don’t hurt him! Set him free!”

But only one can truly set us free.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Jeremiah 29:11

  2. "We were all made for a purpose and with a purpose" Love the way God created us and provided us with truly all we need - mostly for His sacrifice and freedom we find in and through Him. On a side note: Why don't husbands ask questions? I want details! I guess God created us to do the asking : )
